Our Titanium Nitride Coated Main Shafts are machined out of raw titanium local to us. They are machined to the smoothest finish possible, but even that is not good enough for us. We take each raw shaft and hand-sand it to a very high grit mirror finish in our high speed lathe before sending it out to be titanium nitride coated. After the shaft is coated, we get it back and sand it again to a high grit finish, followed by a polishing step. The amount of time and effort we take to finish this part is something that no mass-production shop could commit to- the final results we achieve from the work we put into this single part makes all the difference in the world. If your shaft is from before 2013, it may not interchange with this one without changing the accompanying traverse guide.
